In the United States our criminal justice system is set up on what's called an adversary system. That means, just like in a boxing match, you have someone on the other side fighting you in the case. If you use boxing as an analogy and if you're up against a boxer who won’t quit if and who knows every trick in the book to fight you. If you are up against a boxer who win or lose is going to leave you bloodied and hurting for days afterwards, that's the person you would rather not box, if you can help it. You would rather box someone who is easier and who will roll over and take the mat a lot sooner.

I tell our attorneys, “be that boxer that win or lose if you go to trial you leave them bloodied on the other side and that you know every trick in the book.” That's what we need to do as attorneys we need to be able to fight these cases. We need to know the law. We need to know the science and we need to know where the officers made mistakes. If attorneys that do this would take the same training as us, we wouldn't be able to distinguish ourselves from other attorneys. If you look at our credentials by surfing the Web, you'll find out that no one has more training than we do.
