Probably twenty five to thirty percent of all our clients come to us with some prior medical condition that is relevant to what we're doing in the case. For example if you're like me and have had orthopedic surgery, I’m going to need your orthopedic records to show that you were not a good candidate for field tests. I am going to give you things to do and partly this is because the HIPAA Laws are federal laws which control disclosure of personal information and medical records. This requires that you be the one to request them.

No doctor is going to fax me a copy of your record because it’s against the law to do that. You can go pick it up and most of the time you’re going to have to pay a small copy fee. Some doctors who don't like to go through this may charge you a larger fee but those records could be instrumental in us finding a way to win your case. Don't get upset and don't get discouraged if I ask you to get records of a head injury, a back injury, whatever it may be. It may be the winning ticket for this case. Whereas another case it wouldn’t matter at all.
