The new DUI law that became effective July 1st, 2008 carries a provision in there that everyone has to be clinically evaluated and treated as needed. Under the old law you could start your treatment and if you became eligible to get some type of license back let’s say after twelve months. If you were in treatment you can get the license. Well that’s not the law anymore. As of July 1st, 2008 you have to get evaluated and complete the treatment before you can ever get a license. If you're not diligent about it and you don't get on the job getting it done and if you waited to start say eight months after your arrest and you enter that plea and then you're trying to get your license back if you have not completed it, because you didn’t stay with it, you're not going to get a license until that's completely done.

Then you have to put ignition interlock on your car after you've waited the one year minimum plus whatever other time it takes you to finish the treatment. A knowledgeable attorney in this field will tell you how to get started on that treatment to protect that situation even if you're going to go to trial. We want to make sure that you never have a day that you're not driving if we can help it. We try to cover all ends of the spectrum in that evaluation.
