One of the things we ask our clients to do is to retrieve his or her driver's history. If you've been licensed in more than one state we’re going to ask for all the histories. Why do we do that? We do it because we want to know what the prosecutor’s going to see when he or she goes to your driving history. If you've had any other type of criminal record, let’s say you have some other non-driving offense. We're going to probably ask you to get your entire criminal history for us and put it in our file. We ask you to do it because it's a private record and were not entitled to go in and retrieve it.

If I was a prosecutor I could retrieve it. They do it all the time. We want to have your history in front of us because many times if I’m down to negotiating a case and they're thinking of reducing it. They might say something like, “Well I haven’t done a full check of background to see if there's anything out there.” I will take my file, open it up and say, “Look I've got certified records right here. We already got those. We’re ready to go”. That's the kind of preparation that can make the difference between a quick deal and maybe sitting a couple more months, sometimes without any driving privileges, if you don't have an attorney that has this in his or her file.
