What happens when you are found to be driving without insurance?
Insurance is expensive and many motorists simply can’t afford to insure their vehicles. However, it is against the law and therefore is punishable by Georgia law. If you are convicted of driving without insurance, your license will be suspended for 60 to 90 days. When law enforcement stopped you, they may have found you to not have proper proof of insurance. If this was the case, you (or the car owner) will be unable to register and purchase a Georgia license plate.
You also will not be able to renew, replace of transfer your existing Georgia tag. If police found that you were driving without insurance because you were involved in an accident, you could face expensive fines and vehicle impoundment.
