I love it when people come in and say, “You're not going to believe what the officer did. You’re not going to believe how the officer treated me”. Well, yes I would because officers who are out there doing DUI arrests are required to take a course, in almost every single jurisdiction, and it's called Verbal Judo. Judo is a martial art that teaches you how to keep the other party off balance and get the advantage of leverage against them.

Officers are trained and put through a course where they learned how to question you in a manner to get what they want out of you and you be off balanced the whole time. “Sir, what have you had to drink tonight?” or “Sir, when was your last drink?” “Sir, do you really think you should be driving with all the alcohol you’ve had tonight?” It already presumes that you're intoxicated. It sounds that way.

The officer acts as though he knows something about you that you haven't disclosed. That's the way it goes. Every time you give an answer he or she has a verbal judo question coming right behind it. That's why you don't want to talk. It’s called the right to remain silent. Don’t let the officer use Judo on you when you don't even know regular wrestling.
