Obtaining a Georgia DUI “Work Permit” if You Lose Your License
If we are able to get you past the administrative license suspension that takes place at the first part of your case, the only other time that you may be suspended is if you lose the DUI case. Now that type of suspension is called the suspension for the criminal conviction and has nothing to do with the administrative suspension that I mentioned earlier.
That type of suspension is one that if you are a first offender then you can always get a work permit if you are 21 or over. So we tell people, let us get you past the administrative suspension problem for refusal and after that we are always going to be able to keep you driving to and from work. If you are under 21, the law does not permit a permit for you but all others can drive to and from work after a first offense criminal conviction.
