Georgia's new DUI law that went into effect July 1st, 2008 hasn't changed the driver's license suspension rules in Georgia. Those administrative rules still look back five years and not ten years. On all the criminal punishment though, things about jail time, community service, whether or not you lose your car, or have to put a tag on your car that shows that you are a DUI offender. All those things apply to the criminal provisions but as far as whether or not you can drive on a work permit, those rules have not changed. Don't try to figure this out by yourself.

It’s complicated enough for someone who specializes in this law. We will go over the options and the penalties for you and we'll give you a chart that shows you every penalty that you face as a minimum punishment if you have a DUI. It's better to go into this knowing what your rights are and the potential penalties than to go into this not knowing what's going to happen to you.
