What is Going to Happen to Me if I Lose this Georgia DUI Case?

Most of the time when people come in their number one concern is what is going to happen to me—what kind of punishment do I face. Well that depends on how your case comes out number one. Let’s talk about worse case scenario and then we are going to go back later and talk about best case scenario. In a worse case scenario, that means that no matter what we do, you ultimately lose your case. Typically that will mean that we either go to a trial and lose and or you might decide after the first one third of the fee or the second one third that you do not want to proceed further and you decide that you want us to negotiate the best deal possible. That means you plead guilty to the charge or in some cases nolo contendere, which just means no contest, which is a form of guilty without admitting your guilt in court. If we do that for you, it depends on your track record, that is how many other DUIs have you had and whether or not yours is a first, second, third or later offense in a five year period. In Georgia, we have a five-year look back that makes a big difference. So I’ll talk about those each individual situations in just one moment.
