When you come to our office for your interview we're going to ask you to bring a list of all your medications with the proper spelling or generic name as sometimes they are not trade names. We’re going to want to know the dosage that you're taking and the regularity that you're taking it and whether or not you took it that day. Some medications are only given as needed. Others you have to take every day.

We need to know about everything including medicines for gastric reflux and medicines for high blood pressure. Anything that you're taking we need to know about including birth control pills. Why do we need to know that? Because many of the things that people take in combination with alcohol can cause unexpected effects. We have had people who were impaired by a combination of prescribed medication and yet they are only accused of driving under the influence of alcohol.

We might have a witness for example that can prove you had one drink or two and bring in an expert that can calculate what that would put your alcohol level to, if the witnesses are credible. That way we may be able to get an acquittal based on the fact that you were not impaired by what they charged you with, which was alcohol, but you were impaired by medicines that were prescribed to you. Believe it or not, I’ve won those cases before. That's a not guilty, just like if you're found not guilty for any other reason.
