If you're charged with a traffic offense of any type that involves being arrested, and that can be any of the serious traffic offenses I mentioned before or DUI. Your car will be towed if there are no means of getting it away from there by a sober driver. That could be someone you call that can get there in a couple of minutes. It could be a sober passenger which is sort of hard to explain if there is a sober passenger and you're getting arrested for DUI. The point is that once that happens you're going to have an inventory search that the officer takes before the car is towed.

They make sure that if you're missing something they can show that it wasn't in there when they searched and wrote it up. They're doing that to protect themselves. If you have something like a contraband substance like marijuana or anything in the car you can expect that to be discovered and maybe be charged with another crime of possession of a controlled substance. That can make it even more serious than the DUI.

Depending on what's in your car, it can go from bad to worse. Be careful what you have in your car. Don't have anything in there that is a stolen item or anything in there that is a contraband substance of any type because that will be used against you in a criminal prosecution and they are going to try and tie that to you also.
