When people come to us charged with DUI we have to explain to them in 98% of the cases they're charged with another type of offense, not a criminal offense, called an administrative license suspension proceeding. That means we have to go in front of two different judges in two different courts that have two different standards of proof involved in those cases. The administrative suspension is a civil burden of proof. That is whoever has the greater weight of evidence. In the criminal case it’s required that you have proof beyond a reasonable doubt if you're going to be convicted.

Otherwise you should be acquitted. These proceedings require us to do several things and working two separate courts on your behalf. That may explain why the legal fees in a DUI are different than they would be if you were charged with speeding or some offense that only goes to one court. If you're charged with DUI be aware that you've got two things to cover, and that’s what we’ll do for you. Don't lose any of your rights and don't risk losing this case at a criminal level by not calling us in time to send in your ten day letter.
